It’s the end of August. School is back in session, but the sun is still scorching. The temptation to stay inside is definitely there, but you have to fight it!
There are so many things to do outside, even in the heat of the summer. One of my favorite things to do is go swimming. Unfortunately, I don’t have a pool in my backyard, so I have to be a little more creative when it comes to water activities.
Check out Raising Whasians blog for 40 water activities to do with your kids in the heat of the summer!
I like these checklists because you can print them off and put them on your refrigerator. Then, when your precious munchkins come up to you to tell you they are bored, have them choose an activity. Plus, all of these things can be done OUTSIDE!
Another activity that I tried out with my summer camp kids was making bubble snakes. They were super easy and the kids couldn’t get enough of it! Just cut the bottom off of a plastic water bottle. Pull a sock over the hole and dip into a bubble solution of dish soap and water. Blow through the mouthpiece and voila! You’ve got yourself a bubble snake!
I hope you’re re-energized to get outside with some of these ideas. Just remember to Keep Calm. Fall is coming.
And as always, THINK OUTSIDE!
